Is CBD oil right for your dog?

What is Cannabidiol (CBD) oil and why is it so popular?

CBD oil is the second most active ingredient in cannabis. While CBD oil is a component of marijuana, it alone is incapable of causing a “high”. According to the World Health Organization, “In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential…. To date, there is no evidence of public health-related problems associated with the use of pure CBD.”

It is 100% legal in all 50 states and has a list of health benefits such as managing anxiety, insomnia, and chronic pain. It almost sounds too good to be true – but it’s not!

Can CBD oil be used for animals too?

Yes! CBD oil can also be used to treat dogs and cats.

In fact, this study, approved by Cornell University, the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), has said that while “routine nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) treatments, though efficacious, may not provide adequate relief of pain due to osteoarthritis (OA) and might have potential side effects”.

Although there are other OTC drug options to try, there isn’t much evidence regarding their efficacy in dogs with chronic osteoarthritis. Many pet owners have been seeking other alternative therapies (including hemp-related products) for pain relief for their animals.

This study’s objective was to determine if CBD oil was effective in treating osteoarthritis pain in dogs and to assess the safety of oral treatments.

What are the benefits of CBD oil for dogs?

  • Neurology & cognitive function
  • Immunity & allergy systems
  • Hip & joint mobility
  • Relaxation & comfort
  • Everyday health & wellness

The study concluded that the dogs receiving twice-daily treatments of CBD oil “showed a significant decrease in pain and increase in activity… and no side effects were reported by the owners.”

The Importance of Tdap Vaccine: Keeping You and Your Family Safe

Getting the Tdap vaccine is important because it provides protection against three serious diseases: tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (also known as whooping cough). Tetanus can cause muscle stiffness and spasms, while diphtheria can lead to heart and nerve damage. Pertussis is a highly contagious respiratory infection that can be especially dangerous for infants and young children. By getting vaccinated, you not only protect yourself, but also your loved ones and community from these potentially life-threatening illnesses.
